Today,
public school system is not sufficient to handle
troubled teenagers. As the time changes, parents
turn to military schools as an option to discipline
and educate their troubled teens. Many military
schools are blocked to capacity and sport long
waiting lists, as worried parents rush for slots.
Military Schools have long been considered for
providing discipline, hard work, and teamwork,
to struggling, unmotivated or troubled teens.
Although after further review of military schools,
it will be shown that military schools are effective
in very few situations where the purpose for enrolment
is to provide discipline and an atmosphere conducive
for positive change.
Normally Military Schools are privately owned
and operated prep schools modeled after the military
based colleges and universities.
Military Schools are not intended or effective
for dealing with unmotivated, behaviorally defiant,
or academically challenged teenagers. That is
why most long-established Military Schools have
an admissions process that is typically fairly
difficult to get into. Military Schools lack the
internal infrastructure and experience needed
to work with such youths. Those seeking help for
difficult teens should see Boot Camp Alternatives
for more effective alternatives.
Military schools do take teens that are struggling
in school, home, community. They are not really
designed to handle teens with significant problems.
Military schools can help out teenagers with some
gentle problems, however for most struggling juvenile
delinquents a military school is not designed
to help problem teenagers with significant problems.
Military Schools Not for Everyone: Military schools
can be great for some teens and help them to excel
as an adult, but these schools are not for everyone.
Some kids would not be able to deal with this
type of disciplinary school. Any adolescent with
the following problems probably would not do well
in a military school. If they:
- Defy authorities
- Disobeys rules regularly
- Has disorders like depression or ADHD
- Abuses drugs or alcohol
Military school is also a selective institution.
Military schools are a long-established and well-reputed
part of America’s education system, and
a tremendous gateway to get military jobs.
Military school is a opportunity to attend and
can only be accessed by students who have a desire
to excel. The potential of student must come with
a good report card and references from their previous
teachers. This is not an appropriate fit for a
teen that is defiant and unruly. If the parents
are able to convince the military school to take
their child, and the child decides to act out,
they could be expelled.
